A message from the Chair of Governors:
I am delighted to welcome you to the Governing Body’s section of the Bryn Coch website.
There are 17 members of the governing body who work as a professional team to ensure the best possible education for your children. These governors have a variety of skills from all walks of life and have the ethos and work of Bryn Coch at the heart of their support.
The Governing Body consists of:
5 Parent Governors
4 Community Governors
4 Local Authority Governors
2 Teacher Governors
1 Staff Governor
1 Head Teacher
We meet every term to discuss the shared vision for the school and to understand how that vision can be achieved for the school. In planning the strategic framework for the school we take three key actions:
- to set aims and objectives for the school
- to set policies for the school to achieve those aims and objectives
- to set targets by which we can measure progress towards those aims and objectives.
It is important that the governing body monitors and evaluates progress.
The Investors in People Standard has stated that a strength of the school is ‘the effective management of resources by the Governing Body and Senior Management Team which enables the school to provide adequate support and time for staff to carry out their responsibilities in a proactive and focused way.’
We support the Head Teacher and staff in providing the balance between academic achievement and the development of personal attributes by managing resources which include the education budget provided by the Local Authority. We support professional development for all staff and ensure a wide range of opportunities for the children. We are proud that the staff and children achieve recognition for areas of work done in the school.
Bryn Coch School was among the first to achieve the Quality Mark Bronze Award from Governors Wales. It was awarded in recognition of the success of the governing body in raising standards within the school. We are also pleased to have recently been awarded the Quality Mark Silver Award for our continuing development.
The governors of Bryn Coch School are proud to be part of this school and welcome the opportunity to meet with pupils, staff, parents, carers and all interested parties.
Mrs M. Tanton.
